| An explosion proof box is metallic and will not allow a radio signal to penetrate the enclosure (Faraday Cage). It is also not acceptable to have a bare antenna run direct from an explosion proof enclosure into the hazardous area without approved protection. No Sealing Fitting Required - Fitting is pre-approved for hazardous locations and can be installed with no potting compounds and a simple wrench. Eliminates the need for costly seal fittings, and reduces the chance of error associated with field installed sealing practices. Corrosion Resistant - 300 series stainless steel protects the fitting from corrosive environments, sealing fittings are typically constructed of aluminum or galvanized steel, neither being well suited for the process industry. Environmental Protection - All required circuitry is recessed into fitting and potted against harsh environments; this is impossible with conventional sealing methods. Interchangeability - Provides a method to allow for changing antennas (this could be required if damage to the antenna was to occur), the conventional method would require a new antenna and sealing fitting. |
